I love Fall with Newton’s Nook Designs

It’s time for some fall inspiration on my blog today. Sometimes when the stamp set is so pretty, you don’t really need to add anything else, don’t you agree?

For my card today, I am showcasing the Fall Friends stamp set with its coordinating dies along with the Sunscape 6×6 Stencil by Newton’s Nook.

I started by stamping the images on some Neenah solar white card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I colored the images in with alcohol markers. I also stamped the image on some masking paper and fussy-cut with my precision snips. I covered the colored image with the masking paper.

Next, I used the Sunscape Stencil with some Light Blue Quick Dry Dye ink to add some texture to the background. I removed the stencil and adhered the foreground to an A2-size black notecard.

I finished my design by die-cutting the “I love fall” on some white card stock. I adhered the letters on black card stock and fussy cut to create a black shadow for added dimension. I adhered the sentiment on the card with liquid glue. I also added some glossy accents to the heart to make it stand out. Here’s another look:

This card makes me want to snuggle up with my little kitty and drink some hot cocoa! I hope you love this card as much as I do! The supplies I used are listed and linked below. Thanks for joining me today!

8th-Year Birthday Celebration, a Mini Release + Sale & a Giveaway!

Today I am excited to be part of  the 8-year anniversary celebration with Newton’s Nook Designs!  To celebrate this awesome milestone, Newton’s Nook Designs has released adorable new cupcake themed products, which I will be sharing on my projects today. THERE ARE PRIZES TOO! Read all the way to the end of this post to find out how you can win! YAY!

For today’s festivities, the design team is showcasing the Cupcakes Layering Stencils with Newton’s Cupcake stamp set and coordinating dies. Here’s what they look like:

I stamped the images twice on some Neenah solar white card stock with some Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I colored the images in with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and used the coordinating die to die-cut both images.

Next, the scallop die from the Frames & Flags die set was die-cut with some Bristol smooth white card stock. I ink-blended this panel using the Cupcakes Layering stencils with different colors of dye inks. I set this panel aside to let it dry while I work on my focal point.

I used the reverse scallop die from the Framework Die Set to die-cut some hot-pink card stock. Since this is a birthday card, I wanted to add some fun elements to this to add the shaker components. I adhered some vellum on the reverse scallop die-cut and added some foam adhesive to create the well. I added some sprinkles as my shaker element and adhered this on the ink-blended panel.

I matted the focal background panel on another pink card stock before adhering to an A2 size white notecard. I finished my design by adhering the colored image on the card. For added dimension, I adhered the sprinkles on the frosting with some liquid glue. Here’s another look:

The second card is a lot easier since I already had another colored image to use. The focal panel was made by using the Sunscape Stencil with some dye ink. I used the Cascading Stars Stencil with some texture paste to add texture and dimension to this panel. I set this aside to let it dry for about half an hour.

Once the panel was dry, I matted this onto some blue card stock before adhering to an A-2 size note card.

I finished the card design by using my white gel pen to add some details to the frosting and adhered the image with liquid glue.

I hope you like the cards I made today. The supplies I used are listed and linked below. Don’t forget to use the coupon code “8YEARS” to get 15% off your order.

NND January Release Day 4 – Newton’s Mug & Love Cafe

I am a bit bummed because it is the last day of the reveals.  I hope you were able to check out the last three days where we revealed some great stamp sets, dies & stencils.  You also have a chance to win the stamp set being revealed each day so please read through til the end of the blog post to find out more info.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on Word Press is being viewed. Please click on this particular blog post and you will be able to leave a comment below.  Thank you!]

For the last day, we are showcasing the Newton’s Mug stamp set + coordinating dies, along with the Love Cafe stamp set + coordinating dies.  These are mini stamp sets and they are so CUTE!

My first card was inspired by our DT Manager, Samantha Mann.  I love her ink-blended background with pops of black and white so I thought I’d give it a shot today!  I started by ink-blending my background with distress oxide inks and used the same purple color to splatter some inks with my watercolor brush.  Next, I used the Mugs stencil and some texture paste to add some texture to the background.  I put this panel aside to let it dry for a few minutes.

While the background panel is drying, I stamped the image on some Neenah solar white card stock and colored them in with alcohol markers.  I also stamped the small “tea bag” image on some patterned paper to paper-piece the design.

Next, I die-cut the grass using the Land Border dies and cut a strip of black and white patterned paper, adhering them together with liquid glue before adding foam adhesive to it so I can foam-mount the pieces to the colored background.

I finished my design by stamping the sentiment on the image and foam-mounting this onto the card panel.

My next card is fairly simple.    I stamped the images on some Neenah solar white card stock and colored them in with alcohol markers.  I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

On another panel of Bristol smooth white card stock, I used the Sunscape stencil and Mustard Seed distress oxide ink to add the sun rays.  I adhered a panel of patterned paper and some brown strip onto the card panel to ground my images.

I finished my design by stamping the sentiment with Versafine Onyx black ink.

Would you like to win the “Newton’s Mug” or the “Love Cafe” Stamp Set?  We will choose ONE lucky winner for each stamp set!

Here’s how to win: Comment on the NND blog and Design Team blogs (see list below)! The winner will be chosen at random from the collective reveal posts. Newton’s Nook Designs February Release – Day 1 – Loads of Blooms and Flower Trio Die

NNDReleaseIcon_Feb19

It is that time of the month where the entire design team get so excited to show off  the new stamps, dies and stencils by Newton’s Nook Designs.   You also have a chance to win a stamp set for each reveal day so please read through til the end of the blog post to find out more info.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on Word Press is being viewed. Please click on this particular blog post and you will be able to leave a comment below.  Thank you!]

For the first day of the reveals, we are showcasing the following products:

NNDFEB19_LoadsofBlooms
LOADS OF BLOOMS STAMP SET & COORDINATING DIES

NNDFEB19_FlowerTrio
FLOWER TRIO DIE SET

NNDFEB19_BoldBlooms
BOLD BLOOMS STENCIL

NNDFEB19_BokehStencilSet
BOKEH STENCIL SET

For my first project, here’s how I made the card:

  • stamp the images on smooth white card stock.  The butterflies I added for my scene are from the Newton’s Birdbath stamp set.
  • color the image using Copic markers or any coloring medium of your choice.
  • die-cut the image with the coordinating dies.
  • die-cut the birch trees using the Forest Scene Builder dies and the grassy hill with the land border die.
  • die-cut the rest of the elements needed to create the scene.
  • ink up the background on Bristol smooth white card stock with distress oxide inks using the Sunscape stencil.  Spray the background with water and dab it dry with a paper towel.
  • assemble the card on an A2 size white card base.
  • Finish the design by stamping the sentiment and add a pink heart.

NNDLoadsofBloom1A

I just love this image so much!  It reminds me of those times back when I was a child and my sisters and I were riding our bicycles, gathering flowers around the area.  Those were simple times that I will always cherish forever.  Here’s a closer look:

NNDLoadsofBloom1B

I would never trade in those times where my friends and I just enjoyed being kids, riding our bikes, playing games and not wanting to come home when it’s starting to get dark because of dinner.  I am certainly thankful we didn’t have smart phones and computer games back then.

NNDLoadsofBloom1C

For my second project, I used the Flower Trio die, Bokeh Stencil set and the Bold Blooms stencil.  Here’s how I made the card:

  • Ink up some Bristol smooth white card stock using different pastel distress oxide inks with the Bokeh stencil set.
  • Die-cut the flowers using the Flower Trio Die.

IMG_1038

  • Use a stamping mat and bone folder to shape the flowers and give it a little dimension.  If you have a round stylus, it’s better.

IMG_1039

  • Ink up some Bristol smooth white card stock using distress oxide inks and the bold blooms stencil.  Spray water and dab it dry with some paper towel. Use clear sequins as shaker element.

IMG_1037

  • die-cut the diagonal die coverplate and adhere acetate sheet.  Add foam adhesive to create the shaker well and adhere on top of the background.

IMG_1040

  • adhere the flowers and leaves on the card and finish the design by adding the script sentiment die.

NNDFlowerTrioDie1A

Since I used clear sequins as my shaker element, the die-cut flowers really stood out on this card design.  I also added the Crystal clear jewels in the middle of the flowers.  Here’s a closer look:

NNDFlowerTrioDie1B

I really LOVE how this card turned out.  The Flower Trio die set is a must-have for sure. You can even decorate your Spring wreath using this die.  The possibilities are endless!  Here’s another look:

Newton’s Nook Designs January Release – Day 1 – It’s a Plan and Newton Makes A Plan

nndreleaseicon_jan19

It is that time of the month where the entire design team get so excited to show off  the new stamps, dies and stencils by Newton’s Nook Designs.   You also have a chance to win a stamp set for each reveal day so please read through til the end of the blog post to find out more info.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on Word Press is being viewed. Please click on this particular blog post and you will be able to leave a comment below.  Thank you!]

For the first day of the reveals, we are showcasing the It’s a Plan stamp set with Newton Makes a Plan stamp set, and coordinating dies.   Heres what they look like:

nndjan19_plannerall

Before I start, I just want to point out that some of the dies are a bit tricky to match up because they are similar in shape and size so Jennifer was kind enough to share this little sheet to help you to number them before you cut the dies apart.

nndcattemplate

I love decorating my planner.  I don’t always have time to do it each month but when I do, I go all out!  I use stencils and distress oxide inks to add color to my pages.  I also adhered some die-cuts, stickers and other cute elements just to make it cuter.

For my first project, I stamped and colored the little kitties from the Newton Makes a Plan stamp set and colored them in with my Copic markers.  Since these images are tiny, I tried to use a maximum of two markers to do my color-blending.  I die-cut the little kitties with its coordinating dies.

I used the Sunscape Stencil and the Evergreens Stencil with my distress oxide inks to add color to my planner pages.  NOTE:  Since I am so over the winter-themed cards you will be seeing a lot of sunshine and happiness on my post this week, haha!  I also used my home-made clouds stencil using the Sky Borders die.  Here’s my monthly calendar spread:

nndplanner1a

I stamped the words on the corresponding days from the It’s a Plan stamp set like “yoga” – which I do every Mondays, “shopping”, I do every Sundays and I leave mostly Tuesdays and Wednesdays to do my card-making and/or design team projects.  I used the tiny heart checklist also from the It’s a Plan stamp set for my “goals”, “to do” and “my mantra”.  I did not fill it all out just yet because I have yet to determine what goals I would like to set for myself this month.  To decorate my planner a little further, I used the little kitties for my yoga days, the one inside the laundry basket for my laundry days on Saturdays, the Kitty holding a present for my husband’s birthday this month and the kitty holding a shopping cart for my grocery shopping day.

Here’s a little close-up of my monthly spread:

nndplanner1c

nndplanner1b

I used the hearts and circle checklist from the It’s a Plan stamp set to add my “to-do’s”, as well as my weekly goals.  Here’s what my weekly spread look like:

nndplanner3a

Since I colored a lot of the images, I decided to create a card using the Newton Makes a Plan stamp set.  Here’s my second project:

nndplanner2a

I used a circle die from my stash to cut out 6 circles on some A2 size 110 lb Neenah solar white card stock.  I used a cat embossing folder also from my stash to add some details onto the foreground.  On a piece of Bristol smooth white card stock, I traced the circle and added different colors of distress oxide inks.  Here’s a close-up:

nndplanner2b

To finish my design, I stamped the sentiment from the Newton Loves Cake stamp set on a banner strip with versamark ink.  I sprinkled white embossing powder on it and heat-set it using my heating tool.  Here’s another look:

nndplanner2c

NND August Reveals – Day 1 – Classy Teachers

NNDReleaseIcon_Aug18

It is that time of the month where the entire design team get so excited to show off the new stamps, dies and stencils by Newton’s Nook Designs.   You also have a chance to win a a stamp set for each reveal day so please read through til the end to find out more info.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on Word Press is being viewed. Please click on this particular blog post and you will be able to leave a comment below.  Thank you!]

For our first day of August reveals, we are showcasing the Classy Teachers stamp set and coordinating dies.   This stamp set is super special for me because my daughter is a teacher.  Thank you so much Jen for creating this stamp set.   Teachers work so hard and are often unappreciated.  I think being a teacher is a noble career and words cannot express how proud I am of my daughter for being one.

NNDAug18_ClassyTeachers

To start, I stamped my images on some Neenah solar white card stock with my memento tuxedo black ink and colored them in with my alcohol markers (not Copics).  Yes, I am currently working on a mobile design studio because I’m in the process of moving my entire overseas studio back home to FL (container is currently in Singapore, en-route to FL).   I never realized how hard it was going to be not having my regular supplies.  Even taking my project photos was a huge challenge.  It was raining so hard for the last two weeks and it’s been gloomy.  Anyways, I wouldn’t bore you with all of my crafting dilemma.  Here is the first card:

NNDClassyTeachers1A

Let me just say that the sentiment on this card is my favorite!  Here’s another look:

NNDClassyTeachers1B

For my second card, I wanted to create a cheerful card.  My daughter is my ray of sunshine.  She works so hard at school but still manages to call me after work to update me about her day and how her “kids” made her laugh or cry, etc.!  She is AMAZING!  Here is my second card:

NNDClassyTeachers3A

I used the same sentiment on the second card because I think it is so true!  Here’s another look:

NNDClassyTechers3C

I hope you like my cards today and got inspired.  Would you like to win the “Classy Teachers” Stamp Set?  This stamp set will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

NNDPinaKoala1

Isn’t this card so adorable?  I love that the Koala peeks through the window and the flowers and the pina-colada images I added gave it a whimsical look!

NNDPinaKoala1B

When I was designing this card, I was thinking about Jennifer and Jeff Jackson sipping through their drinks while they were on a cruise last month.  I don’t have the courage to go on a cruise just yet but one of these days, I probably will.

NNDPinaKoala1A

For my second card, I used the adorable Cat Treats stamp set.  A simple design but I’m happy how this turned out.

NNDCatTreats1

These images are so cute!   Here’s a little close-up:

You will notice for today’s post, I have a similar card design for both cards I’m featuring today.

Here is my card showcasing the Shark Frenzy stamp set.   I also used the Sunscape stencil to create my scene.  I wanted to create another birthday card since I always send those out to my family and friends.

NNDSharkFrenzy1

I also used the Frames and Flags die set.

NNDSharkFrenzy1A

I think this stamp set os so much fun and it has a lot of possibilities.

Here’s my card featuring the Flamingo Flock stamp set.  This one is really cute.  I wanted one flamingo to stand out above the crowd so I only colored one in pink.  The rest were in gray.

NNDFlamingoFlock1

I don’t have a ton of friends but the ones I do have just stand out above the crowd.    They are what I call “my people”.

NNDNewtonSummerTreats1

I wanted a happy birthday card with a shaker element.   Just looking at this image makes me want to go to Baskin Robbins to get a banana-split!  Ice cream is my favorite dessert so thank goodness I don’t live near one or I will be weighing a ton.

NNDNewtonSummerTreats1A

I used my sakura gelli-roll white pen to add details to the images.

NNDNewtonSummerTreat1B

Here’s my card showcasing the Cozy Campers stamp set and coordinating dies.  I love this stamp set so much because I love camping!  One of these days when my husband and I move back home permanently, he promised to get me a camper.  I just wish it’ll be as cute as Jennifer’s drawings.

NNDCozyCampers1

I created an evening scene with the full moon.  The only thing missing on the table is a glass of wine (or two), or maybe a camp fire!

NNDCozyCampers1A

This card just makes me dream of camping again.   Maybe the next time my husband and I go camping, he will take me to Montana!
