NND January Release Day 2 – Smitten Kittens & Slimline Masking Stencils

It is the second day of the reveals by Newton’s Nook Designs.  I hope you were able to check out yesterday’s reveal.  You also have a chance to win the stamp set being revealed each day so please read through til the end of the blog post to find out more info.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on Word Press is being viewed. For Day 2, we are showcasing the Smitten Kittens stamp set and coordinating dies along with two new Slimline Masking Stencils.

To make my first card, I started by die-cutting the scallop from the Slimline Frames & Portholes die set with some Bristol smooth white card stock.  I also die-cut the white frame from the Slimline Frames & Windows die set and foam-mounted this piece to the scallop die-cut.  Next, I used the Slimline Square Masking Stencil to add some colors on the boxes with some distress oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Mermaid Lagoon and Mustard Seed.

Next, I stamped the images from the Smitten Kittens stamp set and colored them in with my Spectrum Noir alcohol markers.  I die-cut the images using the coordinating dies and foam-mounted the mages onto my card panel for added dimension.

I cut a Slimline card panel and adhered some pink card stock, then added the focal panel onto the card.  I stamped the sentiment with some Versafine Onyx Black ink.

I finished my design by adhering some hearts for more texture.  Here’s another look:

For my Christmas card today, I am showcasing one of my favorite stamp set and coordinating dies by Newton’s Nook called Naughty or Mice, along with the Banner Trio die setSlimline Frames & Portholes and the Slimline Frames & Windows die set.

I started by stamping my images on some Neenah solar white card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.  I colored the images in with my alcohol markers and die-cut them out using the coordinating dies.

I used both slimline dies mentioned above and die-cut them with different colors of card stock and patterned paper.  I cut some Neenah 110 lb. card stock measuring 8 1/2 by 7, and folded in half as my slimline card base.  I adhered the red scallop first, then foam-mounted the white frame for added dimension.

I adhered the patterned paper with some liquid glue.  Adding the snow banks grounded my images against the busy background and made them stand out a little!

The focal images were added with my tape runner.  I finished my design by die-cutting the banner from the Banner Trio die set, that was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with my heating tool.

To add more of a festive touch, I added the red bows that were die-cut using the Baby Bib die set.  Here’s another look:

Ice-cream is my all-time favorite dessert and this is my inspiration for today’s project.  I am showcasing the Summer Scoops Stamp Set and Dies, along with the Slimline Frames & Portholes Die set , Slimline Frames & Windows Die set and the Banner Trio Die Set.  Some people celebrate with champagne, I celebrate with ice cream!

I started by stamping the images on some Neenah solar white card stock and colored the images in with my Spectrum Noir TriBlend markers.  I die-cut the images using the coordinating dies.

The background scallop was die-cut using the Slimline Frames & Portholes die set on some Neenah Solar White card stock.  I adhered this on some Blue slimline card base.  The yellow frame was die-cut using the Slimlines Frames & Windows die set and foam mounted onto the card for added dimension.

I adhered the colored images on the card with foam and liquid adhesive to make it look more cohesive.

I die-cut the sentiment strip using one of the dies from the Banner Trio die set and stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink.  I sprinkled some white embossing powder and heat-set with my Wagner heating tool.  I foam mounted this sentiment strip on my card.
