NND_July17_4yr

Hello my crafty peeps! It is the first day of the July release at Newton’s Nook Designs.   I always get excited during release week. You will absolutely LOVE this month’s stamp release!  I know I always say that but it is the absolute truth.  You also have a chance to win a $20 store credit during release week so check out the details I have indicated at the end of this blog post.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on WordPress is being viewed. Please click on this particular blog post and you will be able to leave a comment below.  Thank you for understanding and I apologize for the confusion.]

I have to apologize that I will only be able to post my projects today and tomorrow, and will not be able to participate in the blog hop on Friday, July 14th.  I had to travel for a family emergency concerning my father-in-law and will not be available for the rest of the month.  Please check out the design team’s projects this week for more inspiration.

Since this is Newton’s Nook Design’s 4-year anniversary, we will be showcasing a lot of products on the first day.  THEY RE AMAZING!!!!!

For today’s project, I am showcasing the Winston’s Lakehouse and Lake Advice stamp sets and its coordinating dies, Sea Borders Dies, and the new stencils.  Here they are:

NNDlakeadvice

NNDseabordedies

NNDStencilsJuly17

I stamped my images on Neenah solar white card stock and colored them in with my Copic markers. I also die-cut my card front with dies that I have from my stash.  After coloring the images, I ran it through my die-cutting machine using its coordinated dies.

I used my ink blending tool and my distress oxide inks to blend the colors on my card stock.  I sprayed water on my stencil and placed the wet stencil on top of the card stock, then wiped it with paper towel.  The distress ink reacted to the water and created this beautiful background for my card, without losing the details made by the stencil.  I also used the ocean border die to create the wave impression on my card front.  Here is my card showcasing Winston’s Lakehouse:

Here is my second card showcasing the Lake Advice stamp set:

Honey Bee Stamps – Message in a Bottle

HBunderthesea

I am so psyched to share with you today’s project because this week, Honey Bee Stamps is releasing the new Under the Sea stamps, dies and embellishments.  Wait ’til you “sea” the new products that are going to be featured this week.  Today is the first day and I am showcasing the super cute “Message in a Bottle” Stamp set.

I have to apologize that I will not be able to participate in the blog hop on Friday, July 14th.  I had to travel for a family emergency concerning my father-in-law and will not be available for the month of July.  Please check out the design team’s projects this week for more inspiration.

I started out by stamping my images on Neenah Solar White card stock and colored the images in with my Copic markers.  I did not have the coordinating dies just yet for this set and since I wanted to make a shaker tag, I decided to use my Exacto knife to cut out the middle portion of the bottle, and then covered both sides with acetate sheet.

HBmessage1

HBMessage2

I used a tag die from my stash to die-cut the tags.  I tore the card stock and sponged it with my distress ink to create the look of sand.  I adhered the shaker element using my Xyron mega tape runner and foam tape.  To finish my design, I stamped the sentiment, added the sun, and the cloud.  Here is what it looks like:

Here’s another look:

You are all going to absolutely love the new stamp sets and dies for the July release.  The stamps, dies and embellishments will be available for purchase on Friday, July 14th.  Please stay tuned for more project inspiration from the design team this week.  Have an amazing day!

You Are Bee-youtiful and Kind

Hello my crafty peeps! It’s Maria here and I am back with you today to share this cheerful see-through card that I have made, showcasing the Bee Hive Card Honey Cuts, Honey Bee Hive Stencil and Mask, the Bee-You-Tiful sentiments with the Build-A-Bee stamp set and Build-A-Bee Honey Cuts.

I wanted to challenge myself and create a unique card.  I started out by stamping my images on Bristol smooth card stock with my memento tuxedo black ink and colored the images in with my Copic markers. I also added some glitter to the wings using my Spectrum Noir clear brush marker.  I die-cut the images using the coordinating dies.

HBBeehive5

I die-cut a piece of acetate sheet using the Bee-Hive Card Honey cuts die as my card base. I also die-cut a piece of white card stock with a yellow patterned paper to use for the inside of my card.

HBBeehive6

I used the stencil to add some definition to my yellow patterned paper with the fossilized Amber distress oxide ink. I adhered the white card stock behind the acetate and adhered the patterned paper inside my see-through card base. I stamped the sentiment for my card, and adhered my little bees on the front panel to finish my design.

HBBeehive4

Wouldn’t this card make someone’s day?  Here’s what it looks like when the card is closed.

HBBeehive1

Here’s another look when the flap is open.  I inserted the battery-operated tea light.

Here’s another simple card that I made. I used the Hexagon Layering Background Stencils and the A2 Double-Stitched Frames:

Hello Card with Honey Bee Stamps

I am super excited to share with you my first project as a design team member for Honey Bee Stamps.  I am showcasing the Hello Gorgeous 6×8 stamp set and Hello Gorgeous Honey Cuts coordinating dies.

I started out by stamping my images on Neenah Solar White card stock and colored the images in with my Copic markers. I die-cut the image with its coordinating die.

IMG_5054

I cut another Neenah solar white card stock, measuring 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 for my card front.  Using a sponge, I started applying color to the card stock with my worn lipstick distress ink, then adding and blending it with cracked pistachio.  Using my wet watercolor brush, I put some gold watercolor on my acrylic block and started splattering watercolor on the front of the card.

IMG_5053

I used a die from my stash and adhered the “hello” script sentiment on my card panel.

IMG_5051

I adhered the flowers I colored from the Hello Gorgeous stamp set and also added some Crystal Mix Dew Drops to finish my design.  Here is a close-up of the card:

I wanted to create a scene that is somewhat ethereal to make it look like the pets are just hanging out in heaven. I know this is where they go when they pass.

I stamped my images on Neenah solar white card stock and used my Brother Scan N Cut2 machine to die-cut my images. I die-cut another rectangular card stock and used my sun stencil to create the look of sun. I die-cut the rest of the card stock, as well as my acetate sheet to create the window for my shaker card. I added some iridescent confetti and sequins available from Kat Scrappiness to finish the design. Here is my card:

Blessed To Be Your Friend

Hello everyone! I am back to share with you a very special card that I made, dedicated to our Kat Scrappiness Design Team Coordinator, Deb Peterson Rauch.  I am showcasing the Bear and Bird stamp set and its coordinating dies, the Concord & 9th Tree Ring Background stamp, Kat Scrappiness Double-stitched rectangle dies and the Blessed Scripty dies, plus other products available at the shop.

I will not have any step-by-step instructions or a process video for this card. It is very simple but I love how it turned out.

This card is dedicated to Deb. I am “blessed to be Deb’s friend”. Deb has a huge heart. When I got sick, a few weeks ago, Deb has been (and still is) such a great confidant to me! She was my constant support during those times when I feel like I would never get better. When I start panicking with the pains I had, I would constantly send Deb a message and ask her so many medical questions and she would immediately give me answers, advice, support and recommendations. It didn’t matter what she was doing that day, she would always send me a reply and make me feel “safe” and less paranoid. Both Deb and Kathleen understood that I had to take it easy and need time to heal.  Thank you, Kathleen Driggers. Thank you, Deb for all the things that you do, for being my friend, and a great DT Coordinator. This card is for you:

I hope you like the card today and got inspired. The supplies I have used are listed and linked below. Have a blessed and wonderful day!

Prayers & Hugs Coming Your Way

Hello everyone! It’s Maria Russell here with you today. It’s been awhile since I made a project for Kat Scrappiness. I was traveling for two weeks and if you have been following me here on my blog, you’ll probably know that I got sick. I am on the mend now but it is taking a lot longer than expected which is making me a little miserable!

I apologize that I don’t have a process video for you today because it takes awhile for me to create a project right now. I can’t sit still for so long and look down so I constantly take a break and walk so I don’t get any pains. Please bear with me as I get better and I promise to make more process videos once I am over this hump.

For my shaker card today, I am showcasing the Hero Arts Color Layering Poppy Stamps and Dies, the Prayers Stamps and Die set, with the Wood Floorboard Prints Cling stamp, as well as the White Diamond sequin mix by Kat Scrappiness, and a lot more supplies available at Kat Scrappiness online store.

I started out by stamping and layering my images on Neenah solar white card stock using three Lawn Fawn Ballet Slippers, Guava and Lobster ink. I die-cut the flowers using the coordinating dies.

I stamped my background using the wood floorboard cling stamp with light- gray ink. I wanted a subtle background for my card because I wanted the main focal point to stand out, which are the poppies!

I die-cut the prayers die using a dark gray card stock, and stamped my sentiment using the Hippo Ink on my card front.

I ran my flowers, branches and die cut sentiment using my favorite Xyron sticker maker and Mega Tape Runner. I also adhered my acetate sheet using glue dots, and created my shaker window panel with scotch foam tape. I added my favorite White Diamond sequin mix by Kat Scrappiness and adhered my window panel to my card base.

I finished off my design by sponging my Neenah white card stock with the Tim Holtz worn lipstick distressed oxide ink to match the color of the dot details on my shaker card.

Here is the card. I hope you like it and got inspired today. The supplies I have used are listed and linked below. Have a great weekend!

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release – Beautiful Plumage

NND_ReleaseIconApril17

Hello my crafty peeps! It is the first day of the April release at Newton’s Nook Designs.   I always get excited during release week and it never cease to amaze me how Jennifer come up with amazing stamps and dies month after month. For today’s project, I am showcasing the Beautiful Plumage stamp set and its coordinating dies.  This Beautiful Plumage stamp set and coordinating dies will be available for purchase on Friday, April 14, at 8:00 a.m. CST.

NND_17April_BeautifulPlumage

I stamped my peacock on Neenah solar white card stock and colored my images in with my Copic markers. I also wanted to highlight the swirls on the peacock so I used my Sakura gel pen, and used my gold stickles to add a whimsical touch to the simple coloring and make the image pop.

I have a clouds border die from my stash that I use as stencil to add some cloud images on my front panel. Using my sponge and broken china distress ink, I lightly sponged the color on my card stock to create the look of the clouds.  I then dry-embossed my card stock with my embossing folder and die-cut the window with a die from my stash.  I knew I wanted some branches and flowers for my peacock and so I die-cut a bunch of those branches from a Cherry Blossom die-set by Spellbinders.  I made the flowers pop by using the end of my marker and pushing it in on a foam pad to make it look more realistic.  I adhered the images with my Xyron mega runner and liquid glue.
