For Day 2, we are showcasing the Newton’s Umbrella + Coordinating Dies with the Rainy Day Doxie + Coordinating Dies.

I started by stamping the images from Newton’s Umbrella and Rainy Day Doxie with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images in with alcohol markers and used the Coordinating Dies to cut them out.

The background for this card was made by using a flat watercolor brush and my FAVORITE, Prima Mixed Media Pastel Dreams Watercolor Confections. Aren’t the colors to die for?! I basically just swiped the colors and used my Heat Gun to speed up the drying process. I adhered this panel on some top-folding notecard.

Next, I used the Land Border Die to die-cut two strips and foam-mounted this onto the card for added dimension. I adhered the focal image also with foam adhesive and liquid glue to secure it in the middle.

I finished my card design by stamping the sentiment from the Uplifting Wishes stamp set with some Versafine Claire Nocturne Ink.

The next project is exactly the same process, except that I added the Spring Blooms Pattern Paper onto the background, before adhering the watercolor panel. I only used the blue color from the Prima Mixed Media Pastel Dreams Watercolor Confections.

The texture was added using some “watered-down” Aged Mahogany Distress ink.

I finished the card design by adding the sentiment that was stamped on some back card stock with Versamark Ink, and heat set with the Heat Gun. I used the Banner Trio Die to die-cut the strip and adhered to the card with liquid glue.

2018 Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog Hop

Autism Awareness Blog Hop Image

Today the Newton’s Nook Designs Team is proud to be hopping along for the 2018 Stamping for Autism Awareness Blog hop!

We are joining Veronica Zalis and tons of other amazing stampers to help raise autism awareness!  We hope you will help us spread the word and follow along with us.  There are going to be TONS of fun prizes too – including a $25 store credit from Newton’s Nook Designs!  To learn more about this hop and see a complete list of sponsors and prizes, please visit this blog post by Veronica Zalis here.

For my project below, I am showcasing the Once Upon a Princess stamp set with the Uplifting Wishes stamp set.   I also used the blue foil by Therm-O-Web.

I started out by searching Autism awareness images on google.  I found the one that looked like a puzzle piece in black.  I saved the image in my computer and printed it out on Neenah 80 lb. card stock using my laser printer.   Since blue is the color for Autism Awareness, I wanted to foil this piece and make it look like a balloon.  I run it through my laminating machine with the foil.

I stamped my Princess and the little frog prince with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored them in with my Copic markers. I die-cut the images using the coordinating dies.

I cut a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 piece of Bristol smooth white card stock and used my handmade stencil using the Sky border dies to create my sky.  Since I am already using too much blue in this card, I wanted the sky to look different and sort of ethereal.  I used my Antique Linen and Tattered Rose distress Oxides for the sky.  I die-cut a piece of mint green card stock for the grass using the sky border dies as well.  I drew the balloon and confetti strings with my Micron Pens.  I finished the design by adding a heart enamel sticker on the puzzle and stamped my sentiment.

NND March Release – Uplifting Wishes and Balloon Shaker Die

NNDReleaseIconMarch18

Who’s been looking forward to day 2 of the March reveals by Newton’s Nook Designs?  Today’s reveal is AMAZING!  You also have a chance to win each stamp set during release week so check out the details I have indicated at the end of this blog post.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on WordPress is being viewed. For today’s cards, the design team is showcasing the Uplifting Wishes stamp set with the Balloon Shaker die. Yay!   I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this shaker die.  It is so much fun and what’s good about this is the Uplifting stamp set will fit inside the balloon shaker!

I started out by making my own clouds stencil using the Sky Borders die by Newton’s Nook.  I inked up my Neenah Solar White card stock measuring 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 with my handmade stencil with Broken China distress oxide ink and my ink blending tool to create the sky.  I also colored the hills with my Cracked Pistachio distress oxide ink.  I used my copic marker to create the grass.

I stamped my bunny and butterflies images using the Bitty Bunnies stamp set and colored them in with my copic markers.  I die-cut the images with the coordinating dies.

I die-cut the colored background using the balloon shaker die.  I colored my card base with my Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber distress oxide inks to create a colorful balloon.

On a piece of heat resistant acetate sheet, I stamped my sentiment using versamark ink and heat embossed it with my white embossing powder.  I adhered the acetate sheet onto the die-cut piece to create my shaker balloon and added the butterflies and the hearts.  I used the sparkling clear sequins as my shaker element.  Here’s my card:

For my second card, I used the Llama from the Llama Delivery stamp set and die cut the image using the coordinating die.  This Llama was released before the holidays last year but you can also use this set for a birthday card.

I wanted the balloon to be the focal point on this card.  I inked up a piece of white card stock with my Tattered Rose distress oxide ink and die cut it with the balloon shaker die.  I also die-cut different colors of card stock using the confetti die from this new set as my shaker element.   This balloon shaker die set is so much fun and a must-have!

Here’s my second card.  Isn’t she a cutie patootie with that big balloon?  This card is so simple but I love how it turned out.
