Newton Loves Coffee ~ Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

winter-coffee-lovers-blog-hop

It’s that time of the year again and I am so excited to be participating in the “Winter Coffee Lover’s Blog Hop”.  I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Amy Tsuruta and the rest of her team responsible for facilitating this great hop!  I don’t know how you guys do it but you all absolutely rock!

Today I have made a card showcasing products from the #KatScrappiness store, as a Design Team member.  Incidentally, today is also Kat’s birthday so there is a sale at the shop for all Halloween/Fall/Christmas category for 15% off (no coupon code necessary).  The promo is valid from today until December 11, 2016 (ends at midnight PST).  Here is the link to the shop http://www.katscrappiness.com/?aff=21  You will also get a free bag of jingle bells for every order  during this time frame.

I started out by stamping my image using my stamping tool with memento tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar White card stock. I colored Newton and the coffee image using my Copic markers W1, W2 and W5, R00, R29 and R39.

I wanted to use warm Christmas colors for this card so I die-cut the front panel using my Gina Marie wonky stitches nesting dies, and the Bo Bunny 6×6 Paper Pad Merry & Bright Collection. Red and Beige just goes so well together.

I also used a wreath die that I recently purchased and embellished it with the new Deck the Halls sequin mix by Kat Scrappiness. I love this new sequin mix.

I finished off the design by adding the snowflake sequin on the coffee mug and Santa hat for Newton. I hope you like my card. Check out the new sequin mixes and script dies available at the shop – they are amazing! The supplies I’ve used are listed and linked below.

Build-A-Snowman ~ Handmade Christmas Tags

Christmas is here before you know it and I wanted to make some handmade Christmas tags to put on my presents this year.  I wanted to use this cute die set that I purchased from KatScrappiness called “build-a-snowman” by Cheery Lynn Designs.

Aren’t they adorable?

Here is the process video if you would like to replicate them.  You don’t have to use the same dies that I have used. You can get inexpensive stickers at the Dollar store or any craft store to make handmade tags.

I hope you got inspired today.  Supplies I’ve used are listed and linked below:

“Beary” Christmas ~ CDD Monthly Challenge

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you are all having a great day so far. I am back today to share with you two Christmas projects that I have made to get you in the mood for the holidays.

The December monthly challenge at Craftin’ Desert Divas (#CDDMonthly) is all about Christmas and I got inspired by the amazing mood board that Tara (the owner) has put together. For people joining the challenge, Tara is also giving away a free digi-stamp called “Beary Christmas”. Thank you Tara for this amazing digi!  If you would like to join the challenge and get the free digi-stamp, please join the CDD Gallery Facebook Group here:

Dear Santa Christmas Cards

Hello stampers and crafters! I am back today and I am sharing two cards that I designed, showcasing the Dear Santa stamp set, the Kat Scrappiness Christmas Tree and Happy Holidays Dies and a whole lot of other supplies available for purchase at the shop.

Since I have just arrived a few hours ago from spending Thanksgiving with my family, I will not have a process video for you today for these two cards. However, these cards are pretty simple and can be mass-produced.

For the first card, I started out by stamping a bunch of the cat images, the ball of yarn, and the presents on Neenah Solar White card stock, using memento tuxedo black ink. I colored the image using my Copic markers. I also die-cut the Christmas tree using the Doodlebug “Here Comes Santa Claus” patterned paper, then adhering the pieces together with my favorite Tombow liquid adhesive.

I wanted a white-on-white background to make my images pop but I didn’t want my card panel to look flat, so I decided to use my Taylored Expressions Twinkling Holiday embossing folder. Embossing the card stock gave it more of a dimension. I adhered all of my pieces together using my liquid adhesive and Scotch foam tape, and finished the card design with a cute Lawn Fawn tag that says “Define Naughty!” with my Lawn Fawn Peppermint twine.

Here is the first card:

For the second card, I didn’t want to use traditional Christmas colors. I colored my cat image with light grays and pink Copic markers. I used a patterned paper from Pinkfresh Studio 6×6 paper pad to die-cut the front panel of my card.

Using my blending foam, I distressed my white card stock with Spun Sugar distressed ink and blended it until the colors matched the pink twine. I die-cut the sentiment using Kat Scrappiness Happy Holidays Script die. I LOVE THIS DIE! It cuts like butter! I then adhered all of my pieces to the front panel of my card using my liquid adhesive. I finished the design with my pink and gold twine, and White Diamonds Sequins by Kat Scrappiness. I think the card turned out simple yet classy!

I hope you like both cards and got inspired today. I promise to have a process video for my next design team project.

I have listed and linked all the supplies that I have used below in case you’re interested to purchase them.

Have an amazing day!

Woodland-themed Christmas Card

It’s Maria Russell here today and I am back today to share with you a Christmas card that I have made showcasing the Christmas tree die by Kat Scrappiness. Unfortunately I wouldn’t have a process video this time, as I am currently home in Orlando, celebrating Thanksgiving weekend with my family.

I started out by die-cutting my card stock using the die, and coloring the pieces with my Tombow colored pencils. Once I was happy with the colors, I used my tombow liquid glue to adhere the pieces together and set it aside to dry.

I proceeded to cut my card base, and used the Kat Scrappiness Stitched rectangle die to die-cut my patterned paper. I also used this die to die-cut another white cardstock so I can use my Lawn Fawn stitched border dies to create the snow.

Since I was going to decorate my card with cardinals, I went ahead and used a magnolia die from my stash to add the stitching detail to the front panel of my card.

I finished the design by adding white diamonds sequins from Kat Scrappiness, Enamel dots from Doodlebug Design and adding the peppermint twine.  Here is the card. I have also listed the supplies that I’ve used below. I hope you like it and somehow got inspired today. Have an amazing day!

Once Upon A Fairy Tale Brentwood and Operation Snowball Brentwood

This is my second blog post for today and I apologize for that. It just so happens that today, we are launching two new beautiful stamp sets by www.jessicalynnoriginal.com, called “Operation Snowball Brentwood” and “Once Upon a Fairy Tale Brentwood”. These two new stamp sets are probably my favorite drawings by Jessica, thus far. I have created two samples for each stamp set.

Angel Inspirational Card

I finally had the chance to sit down, turn on my music, light some candles and start creating a card that is just simply for a friend, and not design-team related.

I recently ordered these cute Angel stamp set by Sunny Studio and I couldn’t wait to play with them. I had this design idea in my head for quite sometime now and decided to create a see-through card.  Here’s a step-by-step instruction below. It seems like a lot of work but I promise you, it’s really easy!

  1. Cut the white card-base at 4 ¼ by 11 and score at 5 ½.
  2. Trim the front panel at 4 ½, leaving the front of the card with an inch.
  3. Cut an acetate sheet measuring to 4 ¼ by 5 ½
  4. Adhere the acetate sheet behind the 1-inch flap. This will create the window part of the card.
  5. Using the leftover card stock that I just trimmed from the front card-panel, I used my Clouds border die to cut 3 different clouds pieces to create my “clouds”.
  6. Using my sponge, I distressed the clouds with Tim Holtz Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac distressed inks. I wanted the card to have a unique pink and purple color.
  7. I then adhered the clouds on the front panel of the card. One cloud on top, and two at the bottom.
  8. I cut another white card stock measuring 4 1/8 by 5 3/8. Using my sponge again, I distressed the card stock with the same colors that I used for my clouds.
  9. I adhered this card stock on the inside of my card (I wanted to use the same colors that I used for my clouds for the inside of the card).
  10. Using my Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped the angels, cloud and lantern images on Neenah solar white card stock.
  11. I used my Copic markers to color the images.
  12. img_2551
  13. Using the coordinating dies for the angels, I die-cut the images with my big shot machine.
  14. I used my ATG tape runner to adhere the Angels on the front panel.
  15. I used my mini-glue dots to adhere the lantern on the Angels’ hands.
  16. Using my Ranger Multi-Medium Matte adhesive, I adhered the little purple star sequins by Kat Scrappiness to decorate my card further.
  17. I stamped the sentiment inside the card, using my Lawn Fawn Hippo Ink.

Here are the photos of the finished card. I inserted an LED tea light so that my friend can also use this to display in her craft room.

Newton’s Nook Designs – Falling For You

Fall is in the air! Don’t you just love the short days, comfort food, colorful leaves, sweater weather and pumpkin spice? I got so inspired today by a stamp set by Newton’s Nook Designs called “Fall-ing For you” that I decided to create a fall card.  This card is also my entry for the new Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Autumn.

I started out by stamping my image on Neenah Solar White card stock with my stamping tool, and colored my images using my Copic markers.

I went ahead to die-cut my card panel and mat using my new favorite die by KatScrappiness – the “Double Stitched Rectangle Nesting Dies”. These nesting dies are so versatile that I am finding myself using them in all of my paper crafting projects.  I also distressed my smaller rectangle piece using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink by Tim Holtz, and used my watercolor brush to sprinkle water on my card stock to give it a distressed look.

I wanted to have some fall leaves for my card and so I decided to use my Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves die, die-cutting a bunch of fall leaves in different colors, including some vellum.

Here is my card design for today. Don’t you just love fall? I love the simplicity of this card and I hope I have inspired you today to create something beautiful, or just go outside, take a leisure-walk, and enjoy the fall weather! Have an amazing day!
