Masking with Tombow Removable Adhesive

As you all know, Valentine’s Day is on Sunday, and I needed to make a cute treat holder to house my husband’s favorite chocolates. I have an empty Mason jar but I wanted to amp it up a little and spray paint it to create a cute heart design in the front. I could have used stickers to decorate the jar but I wanted something more “handmade”.

I didn’t have any masking paper so I decided to die-cut the heart using my heart die, and used Tombow Removable adhesive to create my “mask” before spray-painting the Mason jar.

I was so impressed with how well the adhesive held on to the glass jar. I gave the jar two coats of paint and it didn’t budge at all. When I removed the “mask”, I got a really nice impression of the heart. The die-cut mask is still sticky enough that I can use it for another project. Just simply amazing!

I also made a heart rosette and a tag to go with my treat jar. After I assembled the heart rosette using hot glue, I used Tombow permanent adhesive to attach the small heart to decorate the front of the rosette. Attaching the rosette to the tag using the permanent adhesive, I thought it needed a little bit more. I then proceeded to die-cut the “love” script sentiment using one of my dies, and attached it to the tag using my all-time favorite, Tombow mono liquid glue. The tip of this glue is perfect to use for intricate dies like the one that you see on the photo.

Simple Valentine Wreath

I decided to repurpose an old grapevine wreath.  I gave it some major TLC by cleaning it first and spray-painting it white to make it look new again.

Easy Side Step Card Tutorial

This is a very easy tutorial to follow to create a simple Side Step Card. Using an A2 size card (5 ½ by 8 ½)

  1. On the 5 ½ side of the card stock (portrait), line it up on your trimmer on the 3 inches mark.
  2. Using your side ruler, cut the cardstock using your trimming blade from the 1 inch mark up to 6 ½ inches down.
  3. Turn your cardstock clockwise (now we are on the 81/2 inch side), start scoring up to the cut line. Score at 2”, 4”, 5 ¼”, 6 ½” and 7 ½”
  4. Turn your cardstock on the other side, and score at 4 ¼”
  5. Fold your card stock as shown the video.

Birdhouse Tea Light Holder-DIY Mini Milk Carton

Spring is already in full bloom where I am and in fact, it is already getting hot over here.  I know some of you are still experiencing snow and hoping that it’ll be over soon.   Maybe crafting is the best way to deal with snow days.  So here is a little cute project that I hope will cheer you all up.

I don’t have the mini milk carton die from Stampin Up.  I saw this tutorial by Sam of PootlesPapercraft and I was just so thrilled since I didn’t have to purchase the die to make these boxes. She made hers as a treat holder but I wanted mine to look like a bird house and make it as a home decor.  So I added the roof, and the tea light.  Thank you Sam for this inspiration and for giving us the measurements.  I tried to make this video as short as possible so some of the boring scenes have been fast-forwarded for your benefit.

Mini Milk Carton:

Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock – 8 1/4 x 5 1/2″

Score on the 8 ¼  side at 1 7/8, 3 3/4, 5 5/8, 7 1/2″

Score on the 5 1/2 side at 1 7/8, 3 3/4, 5″

Roof:

Chocolate Chip Cardstock – 1 7/8 by 5 (embossed using the textured arrow embossing folder)

Tools:

Trimmer and Scoring Board

Bird Builder Punch

Paper Snips

TIEF Arrow embossing folder

Sticky Strip

Circle Punch

Scallop Trim Punch

Polka Dot Parade Stamp Set

HAPPY CRAFTING!  HAPPY SPRING!
