Father’s Day Card with Dad’s Tools stamp set by Kat Scrappiness

Hello my crafty friends, Maria here with you today on the blog!  I hope you are all having a great week so far.  Father’s Day is fast approaching and it is time to honor all the AMAZING dads out there.  The new Dad’s tools – 6×8 Layered stamp set is perfect for this type of occasion, or you can even make just-because cards.  It doesn’t always just have to be for one day out of the year.  I know if my Dad were here, I probably would make him a card at least once a month.

I started out by stamping my images on Neenah solar white card stock, using my Tim Holtz Tonic Stamp Platform.  I think it is a must-have tool for stamping layered images.  Since this stamp set did not have matching dies, I used my Brother Scan N Cut2 to die-cut the images.

I used the biggest of my Cross Stitched Rectangle dieto die-cut the blue patterned paper taken from the Gotta Have Gingham Petite Paper Pack 6×6 by Lawn Fawn.  I then used the third piece of the Cross Stitched Rectangle dieto die-cut a piece of silver card stock. I placed this card stock onto my We R Memory Keepers embossing folder and run it through my die-cutting machine to emboss this piece.

I adhered my blue patterned paper onto my card base and then layered the embossed silver cardstock on top for my foreground.  On another piece of white card stock, I die-cut the word Dad with the Uppercase Condensed Alphabet Dies.  To give it some dimension, I used my foam adhesive to adhere the word Dad onto my card.

I stamped the sentiment on a black card stock with my Versa-mark ink and used my white embossing powder then set it using my heating tool.  I also adhered the hammer and screwdriver images from the stamp set.  I finished the design by adhering my blue enamel dots on the four corners of my silver card stock embossed piece.  Here’s the card.

I honestly struggle with masculine cards so designing this was a bit of a challenge for me.  However, I love how this turned out.  Here’s a close-up look:

Pinterest-Inspired Cards Using Washi Tapes by Paper House Productions

I have been looking for some inspiration on Pinterest and decided to make some super easy and quick cards with some beautiful Washi tapes from the Paper House Productions!  Have you all checked them out yet at the shop? Holy, moly those Washis are so beautiful!   I feel like they need to be showcased more than just adding it to decorate your planners and notebooks.

I am so fortunate to be a design team member of Paper House Productions because not only to they make beautiful paper pads and stickers, these Washi Tapes are to die for!  Look at how beautiful those prints really are, and with foiling!  Love, love, love them all!  Here’s what I got to play with:

IMG_7889

For my first card, I started out by cutting my smooth white card stock to 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.  I layered the StickyPix Stargazer Washi Tape with the Wine Washi Tape set and die cut the card stock with the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Frames Die.   I also used my Bow punch to punch out the pieces to create my bow with a gold-foiled card stock to match the washi.

IMG_7890

I adhered my front panel onto the card base with my Xyron Tape Runner first, then adhered the gold bow on the foreground using a bit of hot glue.  I finished my card design by stamping the sentiment onto the card.

Here’s my first card:

PHPWashiCard2

The stargazer washi tape set is one of my favorites.  I just love the gold foil details and the color is just simply beautiful!  Here’s a little close-up of the card:

PHPWashiCard2A

I wanted to create a birthday card for my second project with the same design.  This time, I used the Wine Washi Tape Set which is going to go perfectly with the sentiment.  A friend of mine is turning 60 and she’s a bit bummed about it.  This card will hopefully cheer her up!

PHPWashiCard1

Isn’t this hilarious?  I just LOVE this Wine Washi Tape Set and I think adhering it on a white card stock made the images pop!

I hope you all got inspired today to create some super simple and quick cards using some beautiful Washi Tapes.  The supplies I used are listed and linked.  Have a wonderful day!

April Showers Bring May Flowers with Newton’s Nook

Hello Newton’s Nook fans!  I hope you all enjoyed the April stamp release last week and hoping that a lot of you are loving the spring weather and seeing beautiful flowers in your garden.  Spring is what inspired my project today.

For my card I am showcasing the April Showers stamp set, with the Lovely Blooms stamp set and coordinating dies.

Using a scallop border die from my stash, I die-cut a piece of Bristol Smooth white card stock using my die-cutting machine.

IMG_7957

I colored my background with my Tattered Rose distress oxide ink with my mini ink blending tool.  I used my distress sprayer to add droplets of water onto my colored background, and dabbed it dry with my paper towel.

IMG_7958

On a piece of Neenah solar white card stock, I stamped the flower images from the Lovely Blooms stamp set and colored them in with my Copic markers.  I die-cut the images with the coordinating dies.

IMG_7959

I adhered fun foam at the back of my inked background to give it a little dimension and adhered this piece on my card base.  I stamped the sentiment from the April Showers stamp set onto my foreground.   I adhered the flowers using my Nuvo adhesive, and 3M foam adhesive.

I wasn’t really planning on adding a process video but since I colored a lot of images, I thought I might as well show you the process (without the coloring).  If you prefer to watch the video, here it is:

Here is my card:

I finished the design by adding Nuvo Jewel drops to the yellow flower and added white dots on the Hydrangea.

NNDApril18AprilShowers

For my first card, I wanted to create a simple border around the image to make it pop.  I first stamped and colored my Little Lilies using the stamp and die-cut the same with the coordinating dies.  I die-cut the white border using a die from my stash.  I also die-cut another piece of white card stock and colored it green to make it look like a grass hill.

To finish my design, I added some glossy accents to the tiny lilies to make it look more realistic and added the pink bow on the frame using the Pines and Holly die set.  Here’s my first card:

NNDLittleLillies1

I just love the simplicity of this stamp set!

NNDLittleLillies1A

For my second card, I die-cut a rectangle mask using my Inkadinkado masking paper and place it onto my card.  I stamped the little images around the masked area, and colored them in with my Copic markers.  I also added tiny blue dots to fill out the space.  I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment in the middle.  Here’s my second card:

NNDAprilShowers1

I love the sentiment on this stamp set and this is definitely another must-have to add to your collection.

NNDApril18UmbrellaPals

As soon as I saw this stamp set, I knew I wanted to create a shaker card!   I started out by stamping my images onto Neenah solar white card stock.  I also stamped Newton and his girlfriend from the Newton’s Sweetheart stamp set.   I used all the coordinating dies to die cut my images.

I die-cut another piece of 110 lb. smooth white card stock using the Frames & Flags die set to create my window.  I adhered my Acetate sheet onto the window panel, and added foam tape.  I also die-cut a piece of white card stock using the Sky Border dies,  for the clouds, and another piece using the Land Border dies for the grass.   I colored the “grass” with my Copic markers.

I used my sparkling clear sequins for my shaker element to make it look like water.  Here’s my first card:

NNDUmbrellaPals1

NNDReleaseIcon18April

It’s Day 2 of the April reveals by Newton’s Nook Designs.   You also have a chance to win each stamp set during release week so check out the details I have indicated at the end of this blog post.  [Just a little important note:  I know some of you had difficulties finding the comments section.  If you would like to leave a comment to participate in the giveaway, the “comments section” will only be ever visible when a single post on Word Press is being viewed. For my projects today the design team is showcasing the Wedding Frills stamp set and coordinating dies with the Floral Lace Stencil.   This stamp set is so elegant and versatile, you can use this for any occasion, not just for weddings!

NNDApril18WeddingFrills

The stencil is so beautiful and perfect for Spring-themed projects, or Mother’s Day cards, or Just-Because!

NNDApril18_FloralLaceStencil

For my first card, I started out by cutting an A2 size Bristol Smooth white card stock.  I used my palette knife and my Deco Foil Transfer Gel by Therm O Web to cover the card stock with the gel.  I let it dry for about an hour until the gel looked clear and not opaque.  I cut an A2 size Sparkling Silver Gina K Designs Fancy Foils by Therm O Web and put it on top of my gel-covered panel (sparkly side up).  I inserted both pieces inside my folded typing paper then run it through my laminator.

IMG_7743

On a piece of vellum, I used my anti-static powder tool then stamped my images and sentiment with Versa-mark ink, and covered it with my white embossing powder.  I used my Wagner heating tool to heat-set the sentiment and image.  I adhered the vellum panel on top of my foiled background.  I finished the design by adding the iridescent ribbon.  Here’s my first card:

NNDWeddingFrills1

Don’t you just love the shine and texture on this card?  Here’s a little close-up:

NNDWeddingFrills1A

For my second card, I wanted to create a wreath with the flowers included int he stamp set.  I first drew a circle on my card stock with a pencil then stamped the flowers around the circle with my memento tuxedo black ink.  I waited for a few seconds to let the ink dry.  I used my eraser to erase the pencil lines and colored my images with my Copic markers.

To finish my design, I added some sequins to the colored panel and stamped the sentiment inside the floral wreath.  Here’s my second card:

NND April Release – Newton’s Graduation & Essential Alphabet Dies

NNDReleaseIcon18April

I get super excited each month as we start our reveals of the new stamp set, dies and stencils by Newton’s Nook Designs. For our first reveal day, the design team is showcasing the Newton’s Graduation stamp set and coordinating dies with the Essential Alphabet dies.   I know I probably say this but you are going to love the new stamps and dies, and the new stencil this month.  The new Essential Alphabet die is a must-have!  They are just the perfect size and you can use it for your cards, scrapbook layouts, planners and traveler’s notebooks, etc.

NNDApril18NewtonsGraduation

NNDApril18EssentialAlphabet

I started out by stamping my images onto Neenah solar white card stock and colored them in with my Copic markers.  I die-cut the images using the coordinating dies.

I cut 3 A2 size pieces of smooth white card stock and die-cut my alphabets using the Essential Alphabets dies, three times in a row.  I prefer to keep the dies intact so I don’t have to worry about finding the letters the next time I use them for my projects.  These cards are very simple so without further ado, here’s the first one:

NNDNewtonGraduate2

Here’s a close-up:

NNDNewtonGraduate2A

I wanted my second card to be more colorful, so I used a rainbow patterned paper.  I also die-cut the clouds using the Sky Border dies, and added Stardust Stickles on the edges to make it look more whimsical.

Even though you can hardly see it in the photo, I also added glossy accents to the globe.  Here’s the second card:
